Applications for the 2026 Denney Award closed on 19 December 2025 and the winner will be announced in May 2026. The next round of applications will open in September 2026.
About the award
The award is funded by the Jonathan Denney Bequest through a legacy donation from the estate of the late Gordon Denney. It will be awarded every year at the RCPCH Conference.
It recognises the best article related to paediatric rare disease research, that has been published or accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal within two years of the award entry deadline. It is open to pre-consultant grade doctors, including comparable grades, who have published research that advances the understanding of paediatric rare diseases.
Submitted papers are judged by an adjudicating panel, established by RCPCH, with respect to their scientific content, clinical contribution and presentation. The adjudicating panel may (in exceptional circumstances) award the prize jointly.
The award consists of £1,000 to the successful candidate, awarded as a £500 cash prize to the candidate and £500 towards the costs associated with attending RCPCH Conference, including travel, overnight accommodation and the day attendance fee to Conference.
