Your Area Officers and how to contact them
Members in North England have two Area Officers, and they're here to seek and promote your views on issues in paediatrics, child health and the College’s work.
Dr Yincent Tse
Yincent has been a kidney consultant at the Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle Upon Tyne since 2009. Most of his paediatric training was in the north, with fond memories of dashing to neonatal resus along the mile long basement corridor of Doncaster General on a steel bike, and the annual revues at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
His special interests include quality improvement, medication safety and patient information. He was previously Deputy Head of School for the North East, and is currently co-chair of the RCPCH/NPPG medicines committee as well as the North of England Paediatric Society.
Dr Louise Turnbull
Louise graduated from The University of Manchester in 2005 and trained in Paediatrics across the North West qualifying as a consultant in General Paediatrics. She went on to complete her sub-specialty training in paediatric respiratory Medicine and has been working as a paediatric respiratory consultant at RMCH since September 2016. She works across all aspects of respiratory medicine with a special interest in severe asthma, dysfunctional breathing and tuberculosis.
She is the clinical lead for her department, North-West Paediatric Tuberculosis lead and area officer for RCPCH North West. She has a passion for education and training and was the previous College Tutor and then lead for supported return to training.
You can contact Yincent and Louise (or other Geographic Officers if you live in another area) through our short form. Feel free to share your ideas and questions.

Spotlight on research: Born in Bradford
Born in Bradford at the Bradford Institute for Health Research is a world-leading research programme in England’s first City of Research. It works to understand and improve the health and wellbeing of families living in diverse, urban communities. It follows over 60,000 people across a series of linked cohort studies: the original Born in Bradford birth cohort; BiB Better Start (BiBBS), which is tracking 5,000 babies and their families to evaluate early-life interventions; and Age of Wonder, a major new study following 30,000 young people through adolescence. By linking data across health, education and social care, BiB is generating insights that inform services, policy, and practice.
BiB is a research programme that changes a city - embedded in Bradford’s systems and developed in close partnership with local communities, professionals, and policymakers. It also leads the BaBi (Born and Bred in) network, which supports local birth cohorts across England using the BiB model.
BiB has recently entered into a formal collaboration with RCPCH, working together to ensure the best research evidence is translated into policy and action that improves the lives of children and families across not just Bradford or the North, but the whole UK.
