Paediatric networks that welcome new members

We know of the following networks. If you know more, get in touch!

Northern Paediatric Allergy Group (NPAG) - This group started in 2009 and includes members from primary, secondary and tertiary paediatric allergy services in the North of England. The professionals interested in paediatric allergy meet every three months on a “roadshow” basis with an annual education and research conference day in February. For further details, see BSACI web page about paediatric allergy networks

Child Health & Wellbeing Network – North East and North Cumbria - This network focuses on child health and wellbeing across all sectors with the aim of supporting integrated care and the voice of children and young people. Key partners include paediatricians, child health specialists from all specialties, primary care, mental health, education, social care and the voluntary sector. To get weekly updates, email nencicb.northernchildnetwork@nhs.net.

Northern Region Paediatric Endocrine Group (NORPEG) - This group usually meet three  times a year for an informal evening of case-based discussions and short talks. It is attended by clinicians and AHPs from all over the region and everyone is welcome. For any queries, or to be added to the mailing list, please contact claire.wood5@nhs.net.

Upcoming events

We plan to share details of events that are open to a broad range of members in North England. If you know of any, get in touch!

You can also see upcoming RCPCH events and courses (many of which are online) and CPD approved courses.

Spotlight on research: Born in Bradford

Born in Bradford at the Bradford Institute for Health Research is a world-leading research programme in England’s first City of Research. It works to understand and improve the health and wellbeing of families living in diverse, urban communities. It follows over 60,000 people across a series of linked cohort studies: the original Born in Bradford birth cohort; BiB Better Start (BiBBS), which is tracking 5,000 babies and their families to evaluate early-life interventions; and Age of Wonder, a major new study following 30,000 young people through adolescence. By linking data across health, education and social care, BiB is generating insights that inform services, policy, and practice.

BiB is a research programme that changes a city - embedded in Bradford’s systems and developed in close partnership with local communities, professionals, and policymakers. It also leads the BaBi (Born and Bred in) network, which supports local birth cohorts across England using the BiB model.

BiB has recently entered into a formal collaboration with RCPCH, working together to ensure the best research evidence is translated into policy and action that improves the lives of children and families across not just Bradford or the North, but the whole UK.
