ST4 Trainees: Help shape the future MRCPCH Clinical exam

We invite members at ST4 to participate in our second, online pilot of the MRCPCH Clinical in the morning or afternoon of Tuesday 2 June. You'll play a vital role in shaping the future of this exam and the assessment programme, and gain valuable experience and CPD recognition.

What is this?

We are reviewing the assessment programme for doctors in postgraduate paediatric training in the UK. Our aim is to ensure our assessments and exams are fair, fit-for-purpose and sustainable.

We are now piloting updates to the MRCPCH Clinical exam, which is taken after three theory exams. The proposed format will remain as an OSCE style circuit, but it will use role players instead of patients and will be more standardised. You can find out more on our assessment review page.

Where and when?

Online: Although the MRCPCH Clinical exam takes place in person, this pilot takes place virtually - so you can join from your own home or workplace.

Tuesday 2 June, morning or afternoon: You will join one of two circuits: morning (08:40-13:00), or afternoon (12:40-17:00).

Who can take part?

Paediatric trainees at ST4: You can participate whether or not you have taken the actual MRCPCH Clinical exam.

However, if you took part in the first pilot of this exam last December, you're not able to participate this time.

What do you get?

This is a great opportunity to experience the proposed exam format first-hand, contribute to shaping its future and support the development of assessments for paediatric training.

And, to thank you for your valuable time, you'll also get:

  • A £25 Amazon voucher
  • A certificate of participation
  • CPD recognition for your time
