Research funding opportunities

Smaller awards designed to allow for the exploration of original ideas in inherently novel priority asthma research areas and to stimulate innovation in asthma science.

Provides funding to encourage and further medical research in a variety of areas. Applications are invited from doctors and research scientists and can be for either research in progress or prospective research.

Funds research into malignant and benign colorectal disease and /or research into Bowel Disease (with a preference for colorectal cancer).

This scheme provides funding for biomarker assay development, validation and qualification where there is a clear line of sight to clinical implementation.

Aims to support innovative approaches and ideas. Projects should test and develop ideas and approaches to improve health and social care delivery or the way people manage their own health care in the UK.

To support high quality, original policy analysis that will generate insight to support and inform policy makers on important current and future issues in UK health policy.

Supports projects that are capable of clinical application within five to 10 years.

Provides grants for small and medium sized organisations in the UK to support projects and the running costs of organisations.

Funds research into two themes – cancer prevention and cancer survivors. Each of these areas may be addressed either from the perspective of identifying the mechanisms that underpin the effect of diet, nutrition and physical activity on cancer, or by addressing the host factors that influence individual susceptibility to cancer development or progression, and so contribute to explaining variability between people in outcomes.
