Research funding opportunities

Smaller awards designed to allow for the exploration of original ideas in inherently novel priority asthma research areas and to stimulate innovation in asthma science.

Designed to identify and invest in a new generation of asthma superstar scientists. 

Provides funding to encourage and further medical research in a variety of areas. Applications are invited from doctors and research scientists and can be for either research in progress or prospective research.

Provides financial support for the collection of pilot or proof-of-concept data. Applications are invited from clinician and scientist investigators, including Academic Clinical Lecturers, based at a UK university or hospital planning research studies on any topic within paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.

Supports preliminary research that will contribute to a subsequent larger research grant proposal. Projects may be stand-alone or linked to one or more existing studies.

Applications from PhD students to cover project consumables costs in a research project in liver disease in children and young people.

Supports a wide range of projects, including clinical, lab-based, social and nursing research which look into understanding and improving treatments in paediatric hepatology.

Allows exceptional established research leaders to pursue groundbreaking, high risk projects that open new directions in their respective research fields or other domains.

Supports researchers at the stage at which they are consolidating their own independent research team or programme.

Open to researchers who have already been awarded an ERC grant. This will be additional funding to establish the innovation potential of ideas arising from the ERC-funded research projects.
