The CESR is for doctors who wish to join the Specialist Register, whose specialist training, qualifications or experience was partly or completely acquired outside of an approved CCT (certificate of completion of training) programme. This committee supports this process.

Doctors who have previous training from outside a GMC (General Medical Council) approved programme and have not obtained the EU minimum time in GMC approved posts (currently four years) may combine this training with a run-through specialist training programme for the CESR (CP).
