We are delighted to launch a new clinical guideline resource for paediatricians and colleagues across the child health workforce who may need to develop a clinical guideline in their specialty area.

To support those putting together clinical guidelines, the hub contains a range of key links and information that will help you learn more about the process and the required steps to take. These links include:

  • a clear flow chart showing all the stages of high-quality guideline development to meet the requirements for RCPCH endorsement
  • a step-by-step guide with detailed information on each development stage
  • a set of downloadable resources, templates and checklist to facilitate the process
  • This new resource complements our guideline directory and how to participate in guideline development

Those who may be interested in this resource include Specialty Groups, Special Interest Groups, charitable organisations such as patient advocacy groups and other stakeholders.

If you have any questions at all, please contact the Research and Evidence team at guidelines@rcpch.ac.uk.

At the launch of the hub, Dr Jan Dudley, RCPCH officer for Clinical Standards and Quality Improvement says:

We are delighted to announce the launch of this guideline development resource for all members. This Guideline Hub sets out clearly the steps in clinical guideline development required to achieve a standard set out by NICE. Specific methodologies for guidelines that lack robust evidence are also described in detail. These are of particular benefit for the rare conditions so prevalent in our populations.
