Presentations in 2026
We were delighted to welcome a range of expert speakers at the NPDA National Conference 2026. Professor Justin Warner, NPDA Clinical Lead, opened the conference with an update on the latest NPDA results and key developments from the past year.
Emma Sparrow and Natalia Bydon from RCPCH &Us shared insights from the Children and Young People Diabetes Communication Project, highlighting the importance of engaging children and young people in how audit findings are communicated. Dr Renuka Dias presented on ongoing inequalities in paediatric diabetes care, drawing on her experience and insights from the NPDA.
Zhaonan Fang, NPDA Analyst, presented findings on inequalities in children and young people with poor glycaemic control, using NPDA data from England and Wales.
Dr Rachel Besser presented on screening for pre-Type 1 diabetes, alongside Professor Colin Dayan, who explored the past, present and future of immunotherapy in Type 1 diabetes. Professor Sheela Magge and Dr Evelien Gevers explored Type 2 diabetes in children and young people, including diagnostic challenges and findings from the NPDA spotlight audit. Saira Pons-Perez presented on complications in Type 2 diabetes, and Amani Krayem closed the day with an update on progress and next steps for the NPDA.
