COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) update

As of 27 February 2020, 15 patients in the UK have tested positive for COVID-19, a novel coronavirus, which is classified as an airborne high consequence infectious disease (HCID). Governments and public health officials in all UK nations are monitoring the situation. This page provides links to resources from statutory bodies and a briefing for primary care providers.

In January 2020, the Chief Medical Officer for England and Chief Scientific Adviser to the Department of Health and Social Care issued a message for all clinical staff encountering patients with respiratory infections arrived from overseas (see below link).

The Department of Health and Social Care publishes UK figures on the latest situation, on behalf of all UK Chief Medical Officers.
