Located just outside Glasgow City Centre in the West End of Glasgow the SEC is one of Europe’s premier conference and entertainment venues.
The RCPCH Conference will be using spaces in the SEC Centre and Armadillo.
Access to the RCPCH Conference is through the main entrance doors. Venue staff will be on hand to help direct attendees.
- Travel to the venue
-
We are encouraging all attendees to choose the most sustainable method of transport to travel to the conference. Read about the forms of transport that have the smallest carbon footprint.
By train - The SEC has its own dedicated railway station – Exhibition Centre – allowing easy access from the city centre and suburbs. There are six trains an hour (around every 10 minutes) from Glasgow Central station, departing from Platform 17 (low level). Read more about train travel. LNER offers discounted rates for group travel - see more on the LNER website.
By bus - The X19 Stagecoach service operates near to the SEC, stopping on Finnieston Street only a few minutes’ walk from the venues X19 timetable.
By bike - Glasgow is linked to the National Cycle Network and has designated cycle lanes on many roads. The SEC is accessible via many cycle lanes and paths including one particularly picturesque route that runs alongside the River Clyde. For details visit the Sustrans website. A covered cycle rack is located in the Scottish Event Campus between the SEC Centre and the SEC Armadillo.
By car - The SEC is conveniently situated for motorists, just off the M8 motorway and with plenty of parking. Scotland has an extensive motorway network. Glasgow is linked to Edinburgh by the M8 and England via the M74. The M80 connects Stirling to Glasgow, while the M77 connects us to the west coast of Scotland.
- In June 2023 the Glasgow City Centre Low Emission Zone (LEZ) came into force. If you’re driving to the SEC via the City Centre you may be subject to a charge, so please check your route and vehicle compliance before travelling. For more information see www.glasgow.gov.uk/LEZ
The SEC (Scottish Event Campus) is conveniently situated for motorists, just off the M8 motorway and with plenty of parking.
Leave the M8 at junction 19 and join the westbound Clydeside Expressway (A814). Westbound on the Expressway (A814) take the cut off for the campus. Turn left at traffic lights and take the right lane to access multi-storey parking.
Scotland has an extensive motorway network. Glasgow is linked to Edinburgh by the M8 and England via the M74. The M80 connects Stirling to Glasgow, while the M77 connects us to the west coast of Scotland.
Parking - The multi-storey is operated by Glasgow City Council. https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/multistoreycarparks
The multi-storey has a height restriction of 2m. Drivers with vehicles over 2m should contact the venue directly for advice on alternative parking facilities.
Please note that residential parking cannot be accommodated at the SEC. The car park is open 24 hours and has designated disabled blue badge parking bays and payment of the car park tariff is required before you exit.
The carpark has an accessible walkway attached that takes you directly to the campus. Lifts are available to gain access to each level of the carpark as well as for exiting and entering the carpark walkway making it fully accessible at all ends.
The total distance from the multi-storey carpark to SEC Centre East entrance/exit is 265m.
By plane - Glasgow is served by 2 main airports: Glasgow Airport and Prestwick Airport.
Airport buses run from Glasgow airport to the city centre up to every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day, and take approximately 25 minutes. Once in the city centre, the SEC is a short train ride from Glasgow Central station. From Prestwick Airport there are three trains an hour to Glasgow City Centre.
- Accessibility

The venue is easily accessible for visitors. The SEC works closely with ‘Attitude is Everything’ and improves access to live events by working in partnership with audiences, artists, and the event industry to implement a Charter of Best Practice in the UK.
Accessible toilets are located throughout the venue and are access using the Radar Key system. Please ask any venue steward for the nearest facility and key.

Delegates can access the event platform via the website and/or the app from the app Store or Google Play Store.
On accessing the event, you will be prompted to enter your email address to access the full features of the app. Please use the email address used when registering for the conference otherwise you will not gain access.
If you would prefer to login to the event platform via the website rather than the app, users will still be able to use the website on their phones with full functionality.
- Breastfeeding and nursing room

Fyne room is available for delegates to use throughout the day. A fridge and changing table is provided for use.
Please ask any member of the registration team for directions.
There are baby changing facilities on the SEC concourse, located outside Hall 1, which can be accessed using a radar key collected from the Information Desk or SEC cloakroom. In addition, there are also changing tables in most accessible toilets throughout the campus. Please ask a member of staff for the nearest one.
- Cash point

There are two cash points located on the main concourse near the Box Office. Please note SEC venues operate a cashless system. SEC will only accept contactless or card payments at their box office, food & drink outlets and merchandise sales points.
- Cloakroom
-
The cloakroom is situated on the main concourse, near the box office. The cloakroom is free to use and manned, but items are left at delegate's own risk.
The cloakroom will open 30 minutes before morning sessions and close 30 mins after the last activities of the day at the SEC.
- CPD/Attendance certificates

Certificates will be emailed to attendees within 4 weeks of the conference following the completion of the conference feedback survey.
- Crèche

A complimentary crèche is available for children up to 5 years old throughout the entire duration of the conference. These are the opening times, aligning with the official conference hours:
- Wednesday 26 March: 08:30-18:00
- Thursday 27 March: 08:30-18:00
- Friday 28 March: 08:30-18:00
Anyone using the creche services would have pre-registered with us. It is not possible to register on the day.

- Delegate badges

All conference attendees are required to wear their badges at all times when in the building. The SEC security team will not allow access to certain areas with these badges or proof of registration.
Please keep your badge safe at all times, if you lose your badge please contact the Registration Desk for a replacement.
If the details on your badge are incorrect, please see the Registration Team in the main foyer.
Please note that badge sharing is not permitted for security reasons.
- Delegate list

A delegate list will be available on the conference app. You can use this list to connect and message with other delegates, speakers and exhibitors.
- Emergency procedures at the SEC
-
There are no fire alarm tests planned whilst we are at the SEC. In the event of an alarm, the announcement system will ask you to calmly leave the building and follow staff instructions.
The muster point is on the plaza between the main SEC entrance and the Armadillo entrance.
- First aid

The SEC Centre features a fully stocked First Aid Centre on the east end of the concourse. First Aid facilities are also available in the SEC Armadillo.
- Livestream and content
-
We are livestreaming and recording a number of sessions, including all the plenary sessions again this year. The livestream will be available via the app and then on demand on the app within 24 hours of the original session.
- Lunch and refreshments
-
Lunch and refreshments are included in the registration fee and will be served in the main exhibition area.
Retailers located on the SEC main concourse and any items purchased from these outlets are not included in the delegate fee.
There are hydration stations located throughout the building. Help us be more sustainable by bringing your own refillable water bottle!
Delegates may take water and tea/coffee into sessions. The SEC requests that delegates don’t take lunch into halls unless they are attending a lunchtime session.
If you have advised us of special dietary requirements please speak to any member of the SEC catering team,
SEC staff are briefed on how to help anyone with an allergen/special dietary requirement. If they are not able to serve delegates anything from their station, then they will direct them to the special dietary station which is situated in the top left hand side of hall 2. This will be clearly signed and a chef will be at this station and can assist with an allergen or special dietary requirement.
We will also provide lunch bags to go at the end of the day for delegates who inform us via the registration form they will be fasting for Ramadan.
- Lost property

Delegates are requested to hand any items of lost property to the main registration desk. If you have lost an item, then please provide your contact details to us and we will let you know if someone hands it in. Additionally, you can check with the SEC security team.

All the event material will be hosted on the conference app and in line with our sustainability commitments we will not be providing pens and pads for delegates.
Note taking facilities are available via the conference app.
- Phones and device charging

There are charging points and power sockets available on the Mezzanine at the Meeting Academy.
We recommend you do not leave devices unattended whilst charging.
- Posters

There are over 500 digital posters from 37 specialty and special interest groups available on ePoster screens located in the Exhibition Hall. All ePosters can be accessed on any screen and searched by abstract ID, presenting author name, or keywords. Additionally, you can view the ePosters on your phone or other digital devices via the ePoster Gallery in the event app.
In addition to the ePosters, there is a selection of physical posters to view. A downloadable map with details of the physical poster locations is available in the app.
- Printing and photocopying

Printing can be requested via the Information desk on the main concourse. This service is provided by the SEC and there may be costs incurred to use the service.
Delegates are reminded that we are aiming for a paperless event so please consider our need to pint carefully.

The Prayer Room is located in room Gala 2 in the Armadillo.

- Quiet Zone

There will be a designated quiet wellbeing space in the Firth Bar (in the Armadillo), providing a quiet and supportive space to enhance their event experience.
- Ramadan

A dedicated 'Rest and Reflection Room' will be provided for individuals observing Ramadan, serving as a tranquil space for contemplation. This area is designated as a food-free zone to ensure a peaceful and respectful environment for those observing their fasts. The rest and refection room is located in Gala 1 in the Armadillo.
We will also be providing lunch bags to go at the end of the day for delegates, who had informed us they would be fasting on their registration form.

On arrival at the SEC Glasgow, make your way through the main door, along the concourse and into Hall 2 to collect your badge. Registration will take place in Hall 2 during the following times:
- Tuesday 25 March 15:00 - 17:00 "beat the queue" registration
- Wednesday 26 March 07:45 onwards
- Thursday 27 March 08:00 onwards
- Friday 28th March 08:00 onwards
You will need to wear your badge throughout the conference. If you lose your badge, please see a member of the registration team who will provide a replacement.
For security reasons please do not share your badge with anyone else.
- Seating

Seating is available in the exhibition area.
You can also sit in empty lecture theatres during breaks or if you need a space to work. Please note that food and drinks are not allowed in the lecture theatres.

Tickets cost £25 per person and must be purchased in advance of the event. You can do this via the booking portal (If you cannot attend the lunch please let us know, we may be able to resell tickets).

Wednesday 26th March 19:00Held at Firangi, 7 Burn Place, Cambuslang, Glasgow G72 7DS. You will need to purchase a ticket for this event. Conference Dinner
Thursday 27 March, 19:00-23:30This year's Conference dinner is taking place at the Glasgow Science Centre.
The Science Centre is a short walk across the Millennium Bridge (opposite the Crowne Plaza) from the SEC.
Arrival is 19:00 for the drink’s reception, with dinner to be served from 20:00. Followed by after dinner entertainment provided by Bahookie, Scotland's famous 'rock ceilidh' band!
Tickets cost £70 and include an arrival glass of sparkling wine, a three-course meal with half a bottle of wine per person (and soft drink alternatives), with dancing to follow. The dress code is smart casual. You can book your place as you register for Conference

Aligning with the Colleges action plan for Tackling Climate change, we are acutely aware of the environmental impact the annual conference has and we are committed to reducing this impact and to support 2 of the action plans ambitions: to reduce the carbon footprint of the College and to educate and support our members, patients and families.

Other than a badge lanyard delegates will not be provided with a delegate bag or any other event items at registration.
We are encouraging our exhibitors to reduce the number of single-use give aways they provide so please carefully consider your need for these items before taking.

If you wish to smoke you may do so outside of the venue in the designated smoking areas. Using e-cigs or vaping is not permitted inside the venue.

There is a taxi rank outside the main SEC entrance but you can also book taxis using the call button situation at the Information Desk on the main concourse.

Ride for Their Lives 'every child has a right to breathe clean air
Friday 28 March, 07:00 - 08:00Meeting: nextbike by TIER Bike hire stand 8415, Scottish Event Campus
Route: Short (approx 7k) riverside and park cycle
Purpose: An opportunity to ride, chat and support each other in clean air advocacy
Who can join: Anyone interested in child health, cycling, clean air or company! No lycra required. Members of the Climate Change Member Reference Group and Clean Air Network particularly encouraged to join.
Where can I get a bike: We encourage people to bring their own bikes. Or you can borrow one using the nextbike app (takes about 5 minutes to sign up and you have to make a £5 deposit). We will leave at 7:15 so make sure you leave yourself enough time to get a bike.
