We commit to auditing our standards so we can build a comprehensive picture of paediatric provision across the four nations. This audit covered the first edition of Facing the Future: Standards for acute general paediatric services.

It is essential that paediatrics is a 24 hours a day, seven days a week specialty, with the most experienced doctors present at the busiest times. Our report sets out ten standards for high quality, safe and sustainable acute general paediatric services.

A vision of how paediatric care can be delivered to provide a high-quality service that meets the needs of infants, children and young people with ongoing health needs.

This guidance is for trainees at Specialty Training 4 (ST4) or ST5(C4) trainees moving to Progress+ Core level who have been signed off for Level 1 Progress or who are appointed at ST4 with Level 1 capabilities assessed during the recruitment process.

Progress+ is now live, as of 1 August 2023. Our PowerPoint slide deck can help trainers and trainees spread awareness of the changes to the UK paediatric training programme and curriculum.

This guidance is for paediatric trainees, their supervisors and Heads of School, and outlines when progression through the next gateway of training is appropriate.

Published in October 2020, this is a guide to the RCPCH principles for postgraduate paediatric training and how to apply them within local training programmes. It applies to our updated training programme, RCPCH Progress+, which is live as of summer 2023.
