"Respect should underpin all working relationships" says RCPCH, as the GMC launches a pilot programme that will give doctors training in tackling unprofessional behaviours from colleagues.
In light of recent news stories around bullying, sexism and harassment within the NHS, and the pilot training programme launched by the General Medical Council (GMC), Camilla Kingdon, Vice President for Education and Professional Development at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, said:
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) cannot and never will condone bullying. We expect high standards of professionalism from supervisors and other colleagues and believe respect should underpin all working relationships - valuing colleagues is fundamental to the way we work. Our trainees are currently developing strategies aimed at tackling this problem and we will communicate these plans.
