RCPCH Conference 2025 - Highlights from day 1

This year we’re delighted to return to the SEC in Glasgow to host RCPCH Conference 2025! Hearing from our plenary speakers, giving out prizes and seeing the huge selection of posters in the exhibition hall… here are some of the highlights from today.
Sign on building: Welcome RCPCH Conference 2025

The three-day RCPCH Conference kicked off today with a warm welcome reception from RCPCH President Professor Steve Turner. Steve pointed out that we’re joined by more that 2,000 in-person and virtual delegates from over 40 countries. And he thanked the 180 staff and more than 3,000 members with College roles who provide support in all we do.

Steve outlined the task ahead from education, training, wellbeing and morale to child obesity, mental health and prevention. And he said:

I think this next year is critical, across all nations, with huge scale change in the way health systems are run in England, and elections in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in 2026.

I’m up for the challenge, because I know that - as we are the fifth largest of the 22 medical colleges and as we care for 25% of the population - we are a powerful voice. And I plan to use that voice to speak up on your behalf, and on behalf of children and young people.

Our fantastic young people from RCPCH &Us then took the stage to mark a significant milestone - RCPCH &Us is 10 years old! They outlined their 10 wishes for 10 years. Take a look and think about how you can grant them!
