Removing Barriers – care cost fund for volunteers

Removing Barriers is part of our original equality, diversity and inclusion work looking at making volunteer roles more accessible and inclusive. The main aim is to remove any potential barriers that can prevent our members from participating in our volunteer opportunities.

One part of this work includes the ‘care cost fund’ which looks to cover the cost of caring responsibilities for our members who undertake a voluntary role for the College.

The fund can cover a maximum of a £75 contribution towards care costs, although exceptions will be considered (for example multiple children or where this represents under 50% of the total costs of care).

The fund is available to cover the costs of both adult and child care responsibilities where these would have otherwise prevented members from being able to participate in their voluntary role.

The resources in the downloads section provide an overview of the process to apply for the funds, as well as any limitations or restrictions.

We want to ensure that as many of our members can take part in our volunteering opportunities as possible, if you have suggestions of other ways that we can remove barriers please get in contact: edi@rcpch.ac.uk
