2020 National organisational and clinical audits - combined report on 2019 data

The covers of the Epilepsy12 National report, and clinical and organisational appendices. There is a young boy who is smiling on each cover.

Our combined report, published on 10 September 2020, presents key findings and recommendations, bringing together important results of the 2019 organisational audit and cohort 1 of the clinical audit in England and Wales. It shows incremental improvements in some areas, but a need for change in others. Also available are appendices and detailed results spreadsheets.

In June 2019, we launched the RCPCH Epilepsy Quality Improvement Programme (EQIP). A comprehensive QI programme, EQIP has supported paediatric epilepsy teams to work together to test and implement improvements in their local service provision.

Established in 2009, Epilepsy12 has the continued aim of helping epilepsy services, and those who commission health services, to measure and improve the quality of care for children and young people with seizures and epilepsies.
Round 3 is underway, and involves an organisational audit and clinical audit phase. Find out about the timeframe for each phase and how to use the data platform.
Round 3 looks at the organisation of paediatric epilepsy services, epilepsy care provided to children and young people and patient reported experience measures.

Epilepsy12 & OPEN UK National Conference 2020

More than 170 health professionals came together at our virtual event in September 2020, with a shared aim of improving the care offered to patients. The event was introduced by chair, Professor Finbar O'Callaghan, followed by a series of presentations.

A highlight was the Epilepsy12 Youth Advocates' interactive symposium, showcasing the impact of their diligent and groundbreaking work in the face of COVID-19.
