National Paediatric Diabetes Audit

We collect and analyse information on the care and outcomes of children and young people with diabetes teams in England, Wales and Jersey, and publish an annual core dataset to drive quality improvement.

Published in March 2025, our latest report covers the health checks and outcomes for children and young people who have attended paediatric diabetes units from April 2023 to March 2024.

The prevalence of patients attending a PDU has increased in past years, but overall the completion rate of health checks for remains high and rates of post-diagnosis hospital admissions and the incidence of DKA are stable. There continue to be some inequalities relating to ethnicity and depravation.
